Chocolate Chip Flax Cookies Recipe



Ingredients:
2 C brown sugar
2 C white sugar
2 C butter
4 eggs
2 tsp vanilla
1 tsp salt
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp baking soda
4 C flour
4 C oatmeal, blended fast until powder
1 C brown flax seeds
3 C real chocolate chips
 
Instructions:

1. Mix first 11 ingredients together.
2. Add in 3 cups of real chocolate chips (not semisweet).
3. Bake on ungreased baking sheet for 9 minutes at 350°F.
4. Take out of oven while still soft. They will firm up while cooling.

Factoid

Flax is in the genus Linum and family Linaceae. It is indigenous to the area that spans from the eastern Mediterranean to India and is thought to be first domesticated in the Fertile Crescent. Flax was cultivated in ancient Ethiopia and Egypt. In an archaeological finding in the Republic of Georgia, dyed flax fibres have been found that implicate it as one of the first domesticated species in human history (30,000 BC). Flax seed is source of fibre, magnesium, copper, phosphorus, manganese and thiamin.
