Chicken and Canawa Recipe

1 C ground chicken
1/2 sweet potato
1 medium apple
1 garlic clove
1/2 small onion
1 egg yolk, beaten
1/4 C cooked canawa
Pinch dried thyme

1. Peel the sweet potato, apple, garlic and onion and grate them together into a bowl.
2. Stir in the ground chicken, beaten egg yolk, canawa and thyme and mix thoroughly.
3. Divide the mixture into balls, then press with your hands into 1/2 inch thick patties.
4. Cook under the grill/broiler for 10 minutes on each side, until cooked through.


Canawa is a small, dark grain that is similar to quinoa. It is sweeter in taste than other grains because it has little to no saponins. Nutritionally, it provides protein and carbohydrates.
