Quality Assurance Technician
The Quality Control Technologist reports to the Technical Services Manager, the QC Technologist is responsible for ensuring that all products manufactured and distributed are in accordance with internal, regulatory, and customer quality management systems. The QC Technician will be challenged to provide technical and scientific support on the manufacturing floor. QC Technician may be asked to support multiple projects concurrently.
- Design, implement, maintain, monitor and improve HAACP program
- Monitor CCP’s and QA check points – quality checks dictated by customer requirements
- Write, review and monitor SOP’s and SSOP’s
Monitoring of production to ensure adherence to company quality standard
- Problem solving & trouble shooting of product quality issues
Assist in investigating product quality, foreign matter, and food borne illness complaints
- Perform mock recalls annually, Identify weakness and provide solutions
- Perform Internal audit on a monthly bases for production and warehouse, provide corrective actions
- Testing equipment standardization, maintenance, calibration and record keeping
- Review daily lot coding for all ingredients used for production and other related tasks to ensure product traceability
- Send out, at set frequency, finished product and environmental plates; swabs etc. for micro trending
- Documentation, record keeping and file maintenance
- Sensory evaluation of ingredients and finished products as necessary
- Assist in R&D projects as necessary
- Maintain pest control program and procedures
- Perform misc. tasks as required
- 3-5 years of food industry experience
- B.Sc. or college diploma in Food Science or related fields Technology or the equivalent combination of education and experience
- Knowledge of HACCP, Prerequisite Programs, and GMP’s
- Knowledge of CFIA regulations
Computer skills and experience with Microsoft
Ability to work with other staff and management
- Ability to multi-task and work in a highly organized fashion with attention to detail and accuracy

The Purchaser is a vital member of the Operations Team and reports to the Purchasing Manager. They are responsible for coordinating the inventory of products, sourcing and buying supplies, products, and services. The Purchaser will be proactive and detail-oriented and possesses exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills. This role is responsible for managing Internal and supplier issues and relationships from an operational perspective.
- Sourcing and purchasing of products and other items as required
- Issue purchase orders, track and expedite purchases while working with internal departments and external vendors
- Assure timely product delivery and product availability for the company
- Coordinate and execute inventory counts
- Manage product inventory
- Build and develop relationships with key suppliers and internal departments
- Review the preferred suppliers on a regular basis and seek better products/suppliers
- Seek new suppliers based on best price, quality, availability, reliability, and technical support
- Regular monitoring of vendor pricing, availability, and terms
- Plan & execute cost reduction opportunities
- Update concerned departments about procurement of products and ETA
- Resolve quality/product issues and communicate with vendors
- Work with vendors to resolve accounting discrepancies
- Assist plant to investigate and document inventory discrepancies
- Develop and maintain product database
- Capturing of all Purchase Orders into electronic system
- Ensure all items received are matching PO
- Research invoice issues pertaining to Purchasing, and assist in obtaining credits for errors
- Initiates new vendor account setups and new product set up
- Assists on special side projects related to Purchasing
- Assist the Purchasing Manager where necessary
- Diploma in Purchasing or operations management will be an advantage
- Minimum 4 years of experience in purchasing
- Knowledge of inventory management and purchasing
- Strong attention to detail and consistently high level of accuracy required
- Excellent English communication skills, both written and oral, and the ability to effectively interact with coworkers at all levels of the organization
- Ability to work in a fast paced environment and continually adapt to change

- Accurately pick items from warehouse rack locations to fulfill Customer Orders
- Notify Warehouse Team Lead for items in incorrect rack locations so that system can be updated
- Maintain warehouse in a clean and orderly manner - empty garbage, sweeps aisles and stage shipping area daily as required
- Follow company policies and procedures
